Many years ago I took a tour at Pere Lachaise Cemetery that was pretty thorough for all the famous people but there were certain ones I wanted to see again. The main reason to return was to pay homage for a dear friend who passed away a few years back and had their memorial service there. I was finally back in Paris and it was a priority to do this. I reviewed several websites that offered tours. There were lots of choices but Max’s stood out because he was flexible with the itinerary and based it on the interests of the people who signed up for that particular tour, so I made my reservation with him. I got lucky and had a private tour. My interests were just a few stops and the rest was in his hands, surprise me. Wow, going off the beaten track of the other tours, we visited grave site after fascinating grave site of lesser known people whose history was just as interesting as the famous ones. Max’s vast knowledge of the cemetery, it’s history and the people who are buried there is extraordinary. He keeps up on his research, not only thorough on the past but also the present, recently interned with their own unique stories to tell. Who would have thought that a tour of a cemetery would be one of the highlights of my month long stay in Paris. It was! I highly recommend Max’s tours and attest to how personable and interesting he is, his tours are well worth your time. Be sure to wear good walking shoes. P.S. This was a delightful tour, and not creepy, as some may think. You will learn about the lives of interesting people across the centuries and see the art of the mausoleums, as shared by Max, a delightful, knowledgeable, and caring companion. The setting is a centuries-old garden. Wear good footwear as the path is often uneven and hilly. You will not forget this soon.

We had a wonderful day with Max. He was both interesting and interested, trading stories, observations, and quotes throughout our visit. His knowledge of the cemetery, and his ability to tell it’s stories, is remarkable.

Highly recommended as small groups only (2-3 people) versus the hordes we saw trailing other guides. Max took us on a lovely stroll all over the 110 acres of the cemetery giving us the history of graves/monuments both big and small, local and international. He tailored some of the sights to the interests and backgrounds of our group which was a lovely touch. Personable, friendly and an interesting guy in his own right, he made the afternoon so enjoyable. Plus some fabulous Parisian Spring weather was the icing on the gateau.

My family and I had the most wonderful guided tour of Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris with our guide, Max. Max knew every nook-and-cranny of the storied resting place and took us to see points of interests that few would know about. He has an easy personality and is eager to answer all of our questions. Delightful tour by Max yesterday. Even though it was a wet autumnal morning, he never lost his enthusiasm for this stunning atmospheric cemetery. Some of the finest graves & memorials to be seen in the world. Truly remarkable.

THIS is the only tour you should think about if you want to explore Père Lachaise Cemetery. Max is personable sharing his journey through life and then passes on a wealth of knowledge about the history of this beautiful resting spot. Yes, he takes you to all the famous graves but more importantly to the graves people would never even think to stop and learn about them. Max was a most excellent guide. He really brought to life the shaping of Père Lachaise Cemetery, the history and stories behind it and, of course, the people who are buried there. Not just the obvious famous people, but the charm of some of the unknown graves also. In spite of the inclement weather, we had an excellent morning and would very much recommend.

We took a tour of Pere La Chaise Cemetery with Max and it was wonderful. He was extremely knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and extremely accommodating. We totally enjoyed him and the tour. We had lunch afterwards and he is a delightful person. I highly recommend him. I cannot say anything negative about him. You really should book with him.

The tour was great and we very much enjoyed the guidance and information on all that Père Lachaise Cemetery has to offer. The cemetery is so large it is that doing it on your own would be difficult.

We signed up for a tour of Père Lachaise Cemetery in the summer with little time to spare and, as it happens in the pouring rain – Max managed to make it a real trip to remember. He is a great story teller – delivering an impressive amount of information in an interesting, concise, humorous and compassionate way. He was able to tailor the tour to our interests, as we could not possibly have done the whole of Père Lachaise Cemetery, but also introduced us to people and histories we were not aware of.
